Norway's national Eurovision Song Contest, the Melodi Grand Prix 2022 will be the 60th edition of our country's national selection.
The winner of the competition gets to represent Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022, which will be held in Turin, Italy in May 2022. The competition consists of four semi-finals, a last chance broadcast and the final. A total of 21 songs participate. Of these, five are directly qualified for the final, while the other 16 will participate in the semi-finals and "last chance". The winners from each semi-final and "last chance" qualify for the final, so that the final field consists of ten songs.
The dolphin finals are held in January and February, with the final on Saturday 19 February 2022. All broadcasts take place in the H3 Arena in Fornebu, with Kåre Magnus Bergh, Annika Momrak and Mikkel Niva as presenters. Bergh will lead the competition for the eighth time, while Momrak and Niva make their debut as Melodi Grand Prix presenters. The dolphin finals and Last Chance will be held without an audience in the hall, and NRK will decide in the new year whether it will be opened to the public in the final.
Mattias Carlsson will once more be the stage director for the production.
